Criteria for file/page deletion in Commons clean up[edit source]
Hi MacFan4000, I was just wondering how strict you are with your criteria for deleting files and pages here on Commons. I just have a few questions so I am clearer on the subject. I have looked at a few file pages and pages in the main namespace that, to me, have missing information and seem pretty pointless respectively. I was going to do some cleaning up and noticed you have been doing so already.
Many of the pages literally have one image in a gallery with none-to-little text. This is not a gallery and the page itself hold no useful or educational purpose. Would you consider this a pointless page? It offers no use whatsoever and the image itself is best served being in an appropriate category. Is this a page you would consider deleting? How many images in a gallery would you consider before not deleting it?
Regarding file pages that are missing any of the following: Description, author, source and license; how do you deal with those? I wanted to add a notification to the image or uploader's talk page but I don't know how successful this has been in the past. I don't want to ruthlessly delete files/images just because it doesn't have one of the aforementioned, but at the same time the basic level of information should contain them all. A full description and correct author, source and license.

- Yeah, I’ve been deleting single image galleries when I come across them. As for images, I delete if they’ve had no license provided for over a week, as per the

I have seen quite a few single image galleries in the main namespace created by Penarc1, who is adamant they are useful to their projects. Quoting below "incipient galleries" on Commons does not help Commons, especially if they remain incipient for months or longer. They hold no real value to Commons.

Dear Administrator I have noticed that the criteria for accepting pages (topics) are going to be tightened. I have commented to BorderMAN that incipient galleries allowed me to keep track of images that are used in several related wikis (e.g. gyaanipedia and worldpedia) Thanks for your comments.
